Will each player have a chance at being a captain?
Will each player have a chance to be a captain?
I believe allowing each player to have a chance at captain is essential to each players self esteem!!
Thank you for leaving a post. Yes, our goal is to have every player get to be a team captain at least once each season. Last season we were able to accomplish that goal, with 22 players over a nine game season. This season we have 30 players and the same nine games, so it will be tougher. If anyone has a suggestion, please speak up by either using this blog or speaking to any 6th grade coach.
It seems simple to me... 9 games, 4 captains each game, though it seems some players have already been a captain more than once. 9x4 is 36. This leaves 6 extra spots. There should be plenty of room for everyone to have a chance.
Coach, captains and playing time should be based on merit.
We also select game captains based on merit as demonstrated during practice and games.
