Lions 13 - Lancers Blue 6

Our 6th graders fought hard for 4 quarters to rally to a 13-6 win over the Lancers Blue team Saturday at Mann MS in Lakewood. The Lancers held a 6-nothing lead at the half, but Matt "Bruiser" Philichi scored in the third quarter and with the PAT, put the Lions up 7-6. Then J.G. Goldsmith rumbled into the end zone from midfield to put the Lions up for good, 13-6.

Our defense re-established the tone of the game in the second quarter and made several big plays and big hits. Our first score was set up by Carson Grisaffi's third quarter interception. On offense, J.G. did a good job running the show and Caleb "Crazy Legs" Kelley ran the ball well. Our "O" and "D" lines picked up the intensity in the second half and led the way. Getting game balls were Carson, Matt, Jorginho Souza for his play at linebacker (including making the interception which sealed the win,) and defensive end Jack "Hammer" Harrington for putting the stick to the Lancers offense. Great job Lions!

We take our 1-0 record into the bye week as our next game is September 6th v-s the Parkland Raiders at Bethell High School in Spanaway. We still have a full week of practice this coming T-W-Tr, (8/26-27-28) and Wednesday (8/27) is picture day. Players should wear their game uniforms Wednesday the 27th.
