We got the 2009 season off to a good start this past Saturday with a 25-6 win over the Norwest Rams at Wilson High School.
The first half was a tight battle as the score was tied 6-6- at halftime. We took control in the third quarter with two scores and added a fourth in the final quarter.
QB J.G. Goldsmith rushed for two TD and set up scoring drives that ended with two more to lead the Lions' offense. RB Vinnie Bankston and QB Phil Truckey also scored on TD runs. Leading the defense were linebackers Carson Grisaffi and Jack Harrington, both making multiple tackles. Defensive end Carson Hamilton made an interception that set up the second touchdown which gave the Lions a lead they never surrendered. The defense also recovered three fumbles. Our offensive and defensive lines played well, opening running lanes for our running backs and keeping the Rams offense in check most the game.
It was a good start, now it is time to build on the win and improve as we prepare for the next opponent.
